Three men found guilty for betting on a cricket world cup match which took place between West Indies and Bangladesh. Arrested by Mumbai Police in a hotel room.

As betting is against the laws in India, three men were found guilty of betting on a cricket match that took place between West Indies and Bangladesh. Bangladesh is a strong player this year, have grabbed the attention of the bookies as they started betting form a hotel room in Malad. Mumbai police under the supervision of DCP Sangramsinh Nishandar operated a raid in the eighth floor of Sai Palace Hotel in Malad, Link Road. The police executed their raid with the help of the hotel authorities which provided them with the duplicate keys of the hotel room.

The three accused arrested by police are identified as Parvez Shaikh, Sandeep Bhatia, and Deepak Savla. Apart from the accused, the police have also rescued three laptops, 16 cellphones, three dongles and two diaries from the hotel room that were used for betting.

Inspector Ravi Adane stated, “The trio has been arrested under provisions of the Gambling Act. We will probe who else was involved in betting and the value of bets placed.”
