Deepika will be seen in a new role as a chairperson in 21st MAMI Film Festival Mumbai
Padmavaat Actor and most gorgeous Deepika Padukone is appointed as the new Chairperson of 21st MAMI film festival, Mumbai. She has recently stepped into the shoes of Kiran Rao who was the former chairperson. Kiran left her responsibilities as she had to focus on a new film project at hand.
According to Mumbai Mirror reports, Deepika got the maximum number of votes at a meeting held by MAMI Board Members Meeting and was offered this prestigious position. Deepika, who will now take forward the legacy of MAMI, stated, “It’s an absolute honor and a huge responsibility. I believe in MAMI’s vision and we are committed to creating a community that cinema lovers and creators of a film passionate nation like ours truly deserve.”
Kiran Rao who was the former Chairperson of the Film Festival expressed her thought on Deepika’s appointment, “It has been my privilege and pleasure to work as part of the core team of MAMI, and after four years as Chairperson of the Academy, I am delighted to welcome one of India’s most loved film stars, Deepika Padukone as the new Chairperson. Deepika has been a supporter of the festival and part of our Board of Trustees and is a person whose ethos and work I greatly admire. I am sure that under her leadership the Academy will become stronger and more robust in serving the cinema community. I look forward to supporting her on this journey and wish her all the very best.”
Along with kiran Rao, Director of the festival Anupama Chopra also said she is happy and looking forward to learn from Deepika.
