After 15 years of her carrier, Katrina is swiftly shifting her interests

Katrina Kaif is one of the few actors in the Hindi Film Industry who have created their own regime and ruled for about 15 years now. But recently her shift in choosing a role is noticeable. She is swiftly moving from glamorous roles to many risky challenging roles. Last year she showed up in Zero where she played the role of an alcoholic actor who is fading with time. She says that she is ready to take up any project which seems challenging to her and can clearly depict her acting skills.

“As actors, we evolve and keep learning new things. [We need to channel this] experience in our work,” says the actor, who has completed over 15 years in the industry. “I am in a position where I want to take risks and want to be part of things that are layered. At this point in my career, I am not looking for something glamorous or a song-and-dance routine. I have already done those things. What appeals to me today is finding the characters and the complexities that my character goes through. And that’s because of who I am today.”

On pointing out that Bharat is a normal mainstream film she explained, “Bharat is a larger-than-life film, but for me, that is incidental. When I was part of Sheila Ki Jawaani or a film like Dhoom 3 [2013], it was because those things appealed to me then. [But now] I want to find roles that I haven’t attempted before.”

Recently, Katrina has been juggling through many scrips that comes her way but the only project that she has finalized after Bharat is Sooryavanshi where she will be sharing the screen space with one of her early co-actor, Akshay Kumar. As she has always said, one of the easy going and fun to work with co-star is Akshay. “Initially, I was a little hesitant, but things went smoothly from the first shot. Akshay has been so supportive throughout my career.”
