Rishab Pant, the Indian wicket keeper batsman made a new record. Rishab pant gained 673 rating points in the latest ICC test rankings. Pant jumped 21 positions to be on the 17th positions. Pant’s 350 runs and his 20 catches in the Test series brought him such rankings. These rating are the highest by an Indian wicket keeper. So Rishab Pant break the record of MS Dhoni.
In the same test series Pant was sledged by aussie captain who sledged him by saying Pant is a baby and MS Dhoni the big man is coming to ODI squad so we will not need to babysit the kid. Pant after breaking MS Dhoni’s record gave a solid answer to the temporary aussie captain. MS Dhoni has preciously gained 669 points. Pant scored 159 in the last test match, the match was ended due to bad weather but India won the series by 2-1. Pant is also the second most highest run scorer after Chateshwar Pujara who scored 521 runs in the series. Pujara gained 3rd position in the batsman’s list in the rankings.
Pant scored his 2nd test 100 at the Sydney cricket ground and became the first India wicket keeper to score 100 in Australia. Pant also broke the record of most catches by an Indian wicketkeeper in the test series. Pant surprisingly took 11 catches at Adelaide Oval and equalled the word record of AB de Villiers and Jack Kallis to take the most catches in a test. Pant is not in the ODI squad for the ODI series at australia. Chief selector Prasad said that- There is absolutely no doubt that he is among one of those wicketkeepers [for World Cup].
All the three shortlisted keepers are doing well. He is definitely part of our World Cup plans. It’s a part of the workload management we are following,”.
