Salman’s Bharat will clash with the debut match of Indian cricket team for 2019 World Cup

India is known as a cricket-loving nation, it is hard to say that the cricket fans will choose the debut match of team India in World Cup 2019 or will opt for Bharat in their nearest cinemas. Previously we have witnessed films releasing around IPL but that is no comparison with the World Cup. Salman Khan has taken a risk this time to choose a release date for his much-anticipated film of the year Bharat on the same day when team India will play their debut match in World Cup.

The big khan’s in the film industry do not let go special occasions like Eid for their film release, but this year it seems Salman may have chosen a wrong timing for the release, However, Rahul Puri, MD of Mukta Arts Ltd. & Mukta A2 Cinemas says, “There will certainly be some impact of India’s first game. People will opt to stay at home on holiday and watch the game. It may not be hugely significant, but it will certainly affect [Bharat].” Whereas, Vikram Mehra, MD Saregama India, and producer at Yoodlee Films think it will be foolish to judge the overall performance of the film just by judging its collection for the opening day.

Mehra further added, “The collections will depend on the content of the film, and a less-than-blockbuster start to the first day can well be accounted for in the subsequent days if the content is good. If the movie is good, it will rake in numbers irrespective of the first day collections.”

There has been further analysis on the first-day collection of Bharat. Film trade analyst Sarita Singh expects Bharat to score 35 Crore on the first day in Box Office. According to Sarita, “The World Cup match will start around 3 pm and will end around 11 pm. Tier I and II cities won’t get affected because of this. It is just one show of three hours.”

To this Vikram Mehra added, “The match timings coincide with the peak late afternoon and evening shows in cinemas, and one might see lesser footfall during this period. But after the match is over, audiences will step out for the late evening and night shows, turning towards the latest blockbuster in town to celebrate. The mood during Eid is one of celebration and whether it’s an Indian victory or just the festive fervor –Bharat will be registering a healthy box office number on the first day at the end of it.”

The film trade analysts says that Bharat has potential to score 400 crores in Box Office but making 300 crores is going to be difficult for Bharat as it will not only clash with the opening match of India with South Africa but it will also collide with important matched like India VS Australia, and India VS Pakistan in this week lately.

With the release of Bharat today on the auspicious day of Eid and the commencing of Cricket World Cup, we expect both to shine in its own field but it will definitely be going to be an interest to see how Bharat performs. Previously Salman Khan has faced failure with Race3 and Tubelight but he keeps high hopes with Bharat as it is one of the most anticipated films this year.
